7.6 Check while operating

While driving, make the following checks to see that
all the parts are functioning normally.
Cooling Water
Do not remove radiator filler cap until
coolant temperature is below its boil-
ing point. Then loosen cap slightly to
WARNING
the stop to relieve any excess pressure
before removing cap completely. If the
temperature of the cooling water rises
above 100 °C (212 °F), Immediately
stop the engine and exercise the fol-
lowing checks and remedies, with the
safety caution in mind.
1. Hostage or leakage of cooling water.
2. Foreign matter on the radiator net and dust and dirt
between the radiator fins and tube.
3. Loose the fan drive belt.
4. Blockage in the radiator tube.
NOTE :
For details concerning supply of water to the radia-
tor, read section on the radiator on page 69.
Engine Oil Pressure Lamp
The pressure lamp signals to the operator that the
engine oil pressure is below the prescribed level. If
the lamp should go on during operation, immediately
stop the engine and check :
1. The level of the engine oil (See page 61)
2. The conditions of the lubrication system. [The oil
lamp is lighted up at a pressure under 7.1 psi (0.5
kg f/cm² : 49 KPa)]. However, there is no trouble if
the lamp should light up when the engine is run-
ning at slow speed.
