If the logic circuit power is off, do not apply the input signals.
When removing the LCD from the case top, cover the display surface with a low-tack protective tape
(Tru-Test part number GET00036 3M protection tape 3125C 100 mm x 100m).
When storing LCD modules, avoid exposure to direct sunlight, light of fluorescent lamps or harmful
gases. The recommended storage temperature range is 0 to 40 °C (32 to 104 °F) and the relative
humidity should be less than 80%.

Using flat flexible circuit (FFC) cables and connectors

The Display FFC (flat flexible circuit) cable connects the display module in the top case with the main
module in the bottom case. Ensure you follow these guidelines to avoid damaging the tail on the FFC
or the FFC connector on either the display module or the main module:
Do not force the FFC tail out of the FFC connector.
The track on the FFC has a pitch of only 0.5 mm (1/50") and is only on one side of the strip. It is
therefore critical that it is inserted straight and in the correct orientation.
To disconnect and reconnect an FFC:
1
Place fingertips behind the locking bar.
2
Gently slide the locking bar away from the FFC connector body to loosen.
3
Ensure that the locking bar is open then slide the FFC into the connector body. Ensure the FFC is
connected properly (straight and correct way around). The tail should be straight without any
bends or folds.
4
Gently slide the locking bar towards the FFC connector body to tighten. The locking bar should be
all the way home.

Protecting the case

When servicing a stick reader, place the stick reader on a soft rubber mat to prevent it from being
scratched.
