Information for servicing the stick reader

Warning!
- Disconnect the stick reader from the power supply before disassembling it.
- Remove battery

Backing up customer data (XRS EID Stick Reader only)

The stick reader may contain valuable information required by the customer. When servicing an XRS
EID Stick Reader, always back up customer data and burn it onto CD ROM or DVD before returning
the stick reader to the customer. EziLink is used to transfer customer data to the PC.
To back up customer data using EziLink:
1
Connect the stick reader to the PC's USB port using the XRS-Serial cable and the USB-Serial
adaptor.
2
Turn on the stick reader.
3
Launch EziLink by double-clicking on the EziLink icon on the desktop:
When connected, the stick reader icon in the top right-hand corner of the EziLink screen
illuminates and the connection details appear at the bottom of the screen.
4
Click
to import all files from the stick reader.
5
Select a folder to save the session data to and click OK.
6
Burn the data onto CD ROM or DVD and return this to the customer with the stick reader.
Notes: The stick reader must be on before EziLink is launched, otherwise EziLink will not connect with
the stick reader.

Installing and using EziLink

Instructions for installing EziLink are provided with the software CD. Instructions for using EziLink can
be found in the XRS EID Stick Reader User Manual or SRS EID Stick Reader Quickstart Guide.

LCD handling and storage precautions (XRS EID Stick Reader only)

The LCD is made of glass. Do not subject it to mechanical shock.
If the LCD is damaged and the liquid crystal substance inside it leaks out, be sure not to get any in
your mouth. If the substance comes into contact with your skin or clothes, promptly wash it off using
soap and water.
Do not apply excessive force to the display surface or adjoining areas, as this may cause a variance in
the colour tone.
The polariser covering the display surface of the LCD module is soft and easily scratched. Handle it
carefully.
If the display surface is contaminated, breathe on the surface and gently wipe it with a soft dry cloth. If
still not completely clear, moisten cloth with IPA. Do not use water, ketone or any aromatic solvent as
they will damage the polarizer.
Do not attempt to disassemble the LCD.
