If the main hydraulic system fails:
The aerial platform may be lowered using the emer-

gency lowering lever.
The machine may be towed if the drive system fails.
y
Refer to Emergency Lowering, or Towing for the ap-
y
propriate procedure.

Emergency Lowering

Use the following procedure to operate the emergency
lowering system.
Warning
The potential for an accident increases when safety
devices do not function properly. Death or serious
injury can result from such accidents. Immediately
push the emergency stop button inward to disable the
control system before using the emergency lowering
system in the event of an emergency.
1. Immediately push the emergency stop button inward
to disable the control system in the event of an emer-
gency.
2. Retract the platform extension, if possible.
3. Locate the emergency lowering control.
The lever for the S3215L/S3215E/S3219E is mounted
at the front of the aerial platform (refer to Figure 11.1).

The handle for the S3220E/S3226E/S4726E/S4732E
is mounted at the rear of the aerial platform (refer to
Figure11.2).

Danger
Pinch points may exist between moving components.
Death or serious injury will result from becoming
trapped between components. Make sure all person-
nel stand clear while lowering the platform with the
emergency lowering system.
4. Make sure there is nothing in the way to obstruct the
platform when it lowers.
5. Stand clear of the scissors structure.

front of the machine to lower the platform.
S3220E/S3226E/S4726E/S4732E – pull outward

on the emergency lowering handle at the rear of
the machine to lower the platform.
6. The platform will begin to lower as the lever/handle
is actuated. Release the lever/handle to stop the
platform from lowering.
Warning
The potential for an accident increases when safety
devices do not function properly. Death or serious
injury could result from such accidents. Fully close
the emergency lowering valve before operating the
aerial platform.
7. Make certain the lever is fully released and the emer-
gency lowering valve is fully closed before operating
the aerial platform.

Towing

The aerial platform may be pushed or pulled after properly
stow the aerial platform and disengaging the brakes. Use
the following procedure to manually disengage the brakes.
