Replacing the components of the top clamp assembly
Consumables
1
The following consumable materials will be required:
Loctite 221(Vinten Part No. Z002-026)
White bearing grease (Vinten Part No. Z150-085)
Dismantling

Dismantle the top clamp as follows:
2.1
Turn the clamp
2.2
Remove screw (8). Using a suitable peg spanner, unscrew and remove the threaded insert (7).
2.3
Remove the clamp assembly
2.4
Remove the clamp knob

Assembly

Assemble the top clamp as follows:
3.1
Apply white bearing grease to the cam surface of the cam insert
knob (1).
3.2
Install the cam insert

Install the clamp assembly

Screw the threaded insert
3.5
While sliding the leg in and out, gradually tighten the threaded insert
grip.
3.6
If not aligned, back off the threaded insert
3.7
Carbon fibre tripods (black legs) - back off the threaded insert
3.8
Aluminium tripods (grey legs) - back off the threaded insert
3.9
Install screw
(ENG and EFP tripods)

counter-clockwise to the 'OFF' position.
