The BootWare program is updated together with the Comware application. You do not need to
update the BootWare separately. After the Comware is updated to the latest version, the system
automatically updates the BootWare program to the latest version when the system reboots.
The file name, size and path in the above figures may vary. Check the current BootWare and
application versions before updating them.
When updating the extended BootWare section, you only update part of the BootWare program.
Once an error occurs, you can retry updating the extended BootWare section.

Updating BootWare and Applications Using TFTP

When the application file is large, you can update it using TFTP to save updating and maintenance time.
Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP), a protocol in the TCP/IP protocol suite, is used for trivial file
transfer between client and server. It provides not-so-complex and low-cost file transfer services. TFTP
provides unreliable data transfer services over UDP and does not provide any access authorization and
authentication mechanism. It employs timeout and retransmission to guarantee successful data
delivery.
The device can serve as the TFTP client. The file server serves as the TFTP server. You can
upload/download the application file on the switch to/from the file server.
There are two approaches to updating application files using TFTP:
Through the BootWare menu
Through the CLI

Updating an Application Using TFTP on the BootWare Menu

Step1 Set up a TFTP updating environment.
The switch serves as the TFTP client, and the PC serves as the TFTP server.
Connect the Ethernet interface on the switch to the PC using a crossover Ethernet cable. Ensure
the connectivity between the switch and the PC. In the example, the IP address of the switch is
192.168.80.10, and that of the PC is 192.168.80.200.
Start TFTP Server on the PC and set the path where the application file is stored.
The TFTP Server is not provided with the device. You need to purchase and install it yourself.
Step2 Configure Ethernet interface parameters on the BootWare menu.
Enter the main menu and select 3 to enter the Ethernet sub-menu, where you can select 5 to enter the
Ethernet parameter set sub-menu to set the Ethernet parameters.
