Before transferring the configuration to the MT8001, backup the Composer project
(Tools
Backup). This will ensure that if anything happens during the file transfer
and your project is corrupted, you will be able to restore it.
Congratulations! You should be ready to transfer the configuration. To do this, you
first need to prepare the files for transfer (see the following section). Then choose
whether you want to transfer via ActiveSync (see section 5.6.2) or Compact Flash
card (see section 5.6.3).
To prepare the files to be transferred to the MT8001, you will need to generate
XML files from the Composer project.
To generate XML files, do the following:
1. Select the MT8001 node in Composer
2. Use the right-click menu to select:
Node Commands
The following message displays when the XML data generation is complete:

Make sure that 'standby' mode on your PC is disabled
Transferring the configuration files from your PC to the MT8001 will take a while. If
your PC is set to go into 'standby' (power-save) mode after a period of inactivity, it
will interfere with the file transfer and you will need to follow the troubleshooting
procedure in the DMS8000 Maintenance Troubleshooting guide.
Physically connect the MT8001 to your service PC
• Connect COM1 of the MT8001 to the serial port of your PC using an ActiveSync
cable (F/F).
Make sure that the cable is securely connected to both your PC and the
MT8001
ActiveSync handles the download process. If this process is interrupted, communi-
cation between ActiveSync and the MT8001 will be interrupted, and a troubleshoot-
ing procedure will need to be performed before you can reinitiate file transfer.
For troubleshooting see Appendix C.
Prepare XML Configuration.
