2.3. FIRST USE

A qualified installer is essential for the installation of the fireplace and also for a modification of the fire-
place for the use of another gas (natural gas, propane or butane).
The masonry and plaster surrounding a newly installed fireplace contains a lot of moisture, which must
first evaporate before being put into service. Otherwise, the plaster may crack or burst. Ask your installer
what is the deadline. The first time, make only a moderate fire.
During the first fires in the home, an unpleasant odor may occur. It comes from protective greases that
were coated on the interior walls of the fireplace and paint. These fumes are absolutely safe. To quickly
remove these odors, just air the room for a while.
After the first operation, a slight deposit may appear on the glass. It comes from painting. Once the fire-
place is cool, you can remove this deposit with Tue Vision Clean and the microfiber cloth (available from
your dealer). This product can be used later for cleaning your glass.
The appliance must not be used if the door has no glass or with the door open. If the glass is broken or
cracked, the appliance must not be put back into service until it has been replaced. Contact your
M-Design dealer.
