Practical hints
Replacing bulbs

Turn bulb socket clockwise until it

engages.
Driver's side headlamp: Cable outlet
of bulb socket must point towards the

lower right.
Passenger-side headlamp: Cable outlet
of bulb socket must point towards

the lower left.
X
Place bulb socket back into the housing.

Align housing cover and turn it

clockwise until it engages.
Parking and standing lamp bulb
X
Turn housing cover counterclockwise
1
and remove it.
X
Pull out bulb socket 2.
X
Pull the bulb out of bulb socket 2.
X
Gently press the new bulb into bulb socket
2.
X
Place bulb socket back into the housing.

X
Align housing cover and turn it
1
clockwise until it engages.

Replacing bulbs for rear lamps
Before you start to replace a bulb for a rear

lamp, do the following:
X
Switch off the ignition.
X
Turn the exterior lamp switch to position
M.
X
Open the trunk ( Y page 69).
Tail lamp unit
Removing cover
Cover (driver's side)

Cover (passenger side)

Remove cover or 2.

Replacing bulbs

Rear fog lamp (driver's side only)

Turn signal lamp

Backup lamp

i The lamps on the driver's side are
mirrored.
X
Depending on which bulb needs to be
replaced, turn the respective bulb socket
counterclockwise and remove it.
X
Gently press onto the bulb and turn it
clockwise out of its bulb socket.
X
Gently press the new bulb into its bulb
socket and turn it counterclockwise until it
engages.
