7.4.6. Checking the siphon

WARNING
Siphon must always be full.
WARNING
Under no circumstance can trisodium phosphate,
commonly known as TSP, be used to clean a system
that contains aluminium.
This cleaning solution has a very high pH level which
will remove the natural protective oxide layer off
of the aluminium. Although the layer of oxide will
reform, if there are small amounts of trisodium
phosphate left in the system, they will continue to
remove the protective oxide layer which in turn will
reduce the life of the heat exchanger.
