When to Take Blood Pressure
•
The best times to take your blood pressure are within 1
hour of waking in the morning or 1 hour before bedtime.
•
When measuring in the morning, measure after
urinating and before eating breakfast.
•
Always measure your blood pressure before taking
blood pressure medication.
•
If you need to measure your blood pressure at another
time of day, make sure you are calm and stable before
measuring.
•
Measure your blood pressure at the same time every
day. Blood pressure changes during the course of the
day, as much as 20–40 mmHg.
