Getting to Know Your Blood Pressure Monitor

Blood pressure monitors use the oscillometric
method of measuring blood pressure. The monitor
can detect the blood's movement through the
brachial artery and convert it into a digital reading.
The monitor is easy and simple to use and does not
require a stethoscope.

When to Take Blood Pressure

The best times to take your blood pressure are
within 1 hour of waking in the morning or 1 hour
before bedtime.
When measuring in the morning, measure after
urinating and before eating breakfast.
Always measure your blood pressure before
taking blood pressure medication.
If you need to measure your blood pressure at
another time of day, make sure you are calm
and stable before measuring.
Measure your blood pressure at the same time
every day.
