23 — Cross-connecting circuits
23.3

Connecting super-rate circuits

A super-rate circuit connection is a connection between a circuit on a DNIC, 2B1Q,
X.21 or V.35 module and two or more DS0 channels of a primary rate link.
A super-rate connection uses a single cross-connection between the data module
circuit and the master primary rate circuit (the first primary rate channel of the
super-rate connection). The rest of the connection is made automatically to slave
circuits (subsequent contiguous primary rate channels).
DNIC and 2B1Q circuits can operate at a super-rate speed of 128 kb/s. The X.21 and
V.35 circuits can operate at speeds up to 1920 kb/s. For details on configuring DNIC
and 2B1Q modules for super-rate operation, see section 17.11. For details on
configuring X.21 and V.35 DCMs, see section 19.11.
Cross-connections between super-rate circuits on two data interface modules are not
supported.
Table 23-1 lists the error messages that are displayed if there is a problem with the
requested circuit connections.
Message
Couldn't make connection:
insufficient bandwidth.
Cannot connect: Overlapping
existing connection.
Circuit is in the middle of a
super-rate group.
That circuit is already
connected.
The second circuit is
connected, PROCEED will
override.

where pp is 1 or 9, p is 1 or 2, and c is 1 to 30 (for primary rate), or 1 (for X.21 or V.35
DCMs), or A (for DNIC or 2B1Q modules)

Reason for message
The super-rate circuit extends beyond the number of primary rate
channels.
One of the primary rate channels is already connected in a subrate
connection or connected as a part of a super-rate connection.
The entered primary rate circuit is in the middle of a super-rate
circuit. You must enter another circuit number.
The master circuit of a super-rate connection is already connected
and has been entered as the first circuit in a new connection. Once
the second circuit has been entered and the PROCEED softkey is
selected, the first super-rate connection is removed.
The master circuit of a super-rate connection is already connected
and has been entered as the second circuit in a new connection.
Once the PROCEED softkey is selected, the first super-rate
connection is removed.
