Transport position

In HCM rate adaption, transport position defines the column where the F bit is
located (B7 to B0). The default is B7. The F bit is always in the first row (F0).
The transport position is set by entering B n , where B n is B0 to B7, with a default of
B7. The transport position is indicated on the display by the position of the F in the
circuit display and under Transport Posn on the right side of the display.

Signaling and the signaling bit stream
The signaling parameter determines whether the data circuit in the HCM frame
includes a signaling bit stream (the S in Figure 22-2). Turning signaling off means
that no bandwidth is taken up by signaling and that signaling is not transmitted
through the network. The signaling can be set to:
signaling on (default)
signaling off
When signaling is turned on, the S bit appears in the element immediately before the
first D bit.
