DTS
DTS is the proprietary technology of Digital Theatre Systems, Inc. Like Dolby Digital it uses six separate channels of sound and behaves
in a very similar way, with front left and right, surround left and right, centre and Low Frequency Effects channels, as shown in figure 4.
Where DTS differs is in the way it stores the digital audio information, because it uses less compression than Dolby Digital to get the
information onto a disc. This means that it has a wider dynamic range, and as such is closer to the original cinema sound track.
With DTS, you really are getting the cinematic soundtrack as it was designed to be heard.

DTS ist eine geschützte Technologie der Firma Digital Theatre Systems, Inc. Sie benutzt, wie Dolby Digital, sechs separate Audiokanäle
und arbeitet auf ähnliche Weise mit den Lautsprechern vorne links und rechts, Surround links und rechts, dem Center- und dem LFE-
Kanal (Low Frequency Effects), wie in Abbildung 4 gezeigt.
Der Unterschied von DTS liegt in der Speicherart der digitalen Audioinformationen. Es wird eine geringere Kompression als bei Dolby
Digital angewendet. Das heißt, es hat dadurch einen größeren Dynamikumfang und kommt somit dem Klang des Original-Kino-
Soundtracks wesentlich näher.

DTS est une technologie propriétaire développée par Digital Theatre Systems, Inc. À l'instar du Dolby Digital, il utilise six canaux
sonores distincts : deux à l'avant (gauche et droit), deux à l'arrière (gauche et droit), un au centre et un dernier pour l'extrême grave
(LFE = Low Frequency Effects), comme indiqué dans la figure 4.
Le DTS se distingue du Dolby Digital par le mode de stockage du son sur le disque : le taux de compression est plus faible. Il en
résulte une plage dynamique restituée plus grande, pour coller au mieux à la piste sonore originelle du film, restituée avec la qualité
souhaitée par l'ingénieur du son.
