Appendix 3: Connecting to PRI/T1
Using CSU adapter
Connecting the system to the ISDN network via the E1/T1-interface using an Adtran T1 ESF CSU
ACE will allow up to 1.54 Mbps transmission. The E1/T1-interface must be connected to a CSU
approved according to IEC 60950, UL 1950 or equivalent standard.
NOTE: The PRI-line will run the AT&T 4ESS, 5ESS and National ISDN protocols in addition to
Euro ISDN (E1).

Connecting to Adtran T1 ESF CSU ACE
Connect the PRI cable from the Codec to the input marked CPE on the Adtran CSU (straight
through category 5 cable is recommended). Connect to the network via the NET connector on the
Adtran CSU. When two Codecs are cascaded, connect the second Codec to the E1/T1 port 2 on
the first Codec using a T1 crossover cable.

Enter '3)TERMINAL' menu. Check '1)FORMAT:ESF', '2)CODE: B8ZS' , '3)SET LBO: 0-133'
(Corresponding to 'Cable Length' setting on the Codec.

Go to main menu and enter '1)NETWORK' menu. '7)SET LBO: 0.0 (According to information
from Telco).
•
Also, other network parameters should be set according to information from your Telco.
