7.2 Engine problems

Fault
Engine does not start
Engine does not crank when
operating the recoil starter
Starter rope of recoil starter
does not return to initial posi-
tion
Engine stops frequently in
short intervals
Engine does not run with full
speed
Engine runs with high speed,
but no vibration
BT 60/4, BT 65/4
Possible cause
Fuel tank empty
Fuel system clogged
Fuel nozzle clogged
No ignition spark
Engine oil level too low
Set the engine stop switch to
position "OFF"
Engine stop switch defective
No fuel in carburettor
Recoil starter defective
Spring broken
Recoil starter dirty
Spring broken
Fuel system clogged
Throttle cable defective
Throttle cable incorrectly adjust-
ed
Air filter clogged
Too high engine oil level
Exhaust blocked
Engine defective
Carburettor defective
Centrifugal clutch defective
Mechanical defect

Trouble shooting
Remedy
Check the fuel level, top up if neces-
sary.
Clean the fuel screen in the tank
Replacing the fuel filter
Clean the fuel screen in the carburettor
Clean the fuel nozzle
Clean the spark plug, replace if neces-
sary
Check the engine oil level, correct if
necessary
Set the engine stop switch to position
"ON"
Replace the engine stop switch
Check the fuel supply
Replace the recoil starter
Replace the recoil starter
Clean the recoil starter
Replace the recoil starter
Clean the fuel screen in the tank
Replacing the fuel filter
Clean the fuel screen in the carburettor
Replacing the throttle cable
Adjust the throttle cable
Clean the air filter, replace if necessary
Check the engine oil level, if necessary
drain off engine oil to the "MAX" mark
(Clean the air intake manifold)
Clean the exhaust
Have examined by a specialist
Have examined by a specialist
Replacing the centrifugal clutch
Have repaired by our customer service.
