Working with the hardware in the
desktop system unit
To work with the hardware components in the system
unit, you must first unplug the system and remove the
system unit cover.
If you have not removed the cover from
your system unit, see "Opening a desktop
system unit" on page 58.
If you plan to add or replace both an adapter card and a
drive, install or replace the drive before you install or
replace the adapter card. If you also plan to make
hardware changes on the system board, see "Adding
and replacing system board components" on page 61
and finish your work with the system board before
continuing to work with drives and adapter cards.
To add or remove adapter cards or drives in the desktop
system unit, complete the instructions in the following
sections:
"Identifying the parts of the system unit" on page 79
