OPERATING

30.1 BATTERY CHARGING

The RPC-50 is designed to recharge the battery of the PU monitor type PRU-352 / RPU-353.
As soon as you connect the RPC-50 to the mains it is ready for use. Refer to the operating
manual of the PRU-352 / RPU-353 for complete information about charging the battery.
Do not leave the battery on charge continuously for more than 24 hours. It is quite safe to leave
the RPC-50 connected to the PU monitor when the mains power is switched off.
Disconnect the RPC-50 from the mains supply when it is not in use.
The RPC-50 operates on any AC mains supply from 100 VAC nominal to 240 VAC nominal and
frequency from 47 to 63 Hz.

30.2 CONNECTION TO PC

The RPC-50 can also be used to connect the PU monitor type PRU-352 / RPU-353 to a PC.
The data lead, that is included with the software, connects between the serial port of the PC and
the connector on the RPC-50.
If you are using the Redlink-II software on the PC you should adjust the software
communications settings to:
9600 baud, 8 bit, 1 stop, odd parity, no handshake.
These settings may be different from the software default settings.
The mains supply must be connected to the RPC-50 when using it to connect to a PC.
(If you need to operate an RPC-80 and an RPC-50 interchangeably with Redlink-II on the same
PC then, to avoid constant resetting of the PC, the communications of the RPC-80 can also be
adjusted to 9600 baud, 8 bit, 1 stop, odd parity, no handshake. See the RPC-80 manual for the
adjustment details.)
