6.
OPERATING THE CO
This paragraph described the operation of the ICM-2000. Many actions may be carried out
depending on the desired measurement results. See the diagram in appendix VII.
Operation of the ICM-2000 has the following steps:
1. Preparing the bottle or can.
2. Setting the ICM-2000 at the correct height.
3. Shaking bottle or can to equilibrium.
4. Piercing the bottle or can.
5. Snifting.
6. Shaking bottle or can to equilibrium.
7. Reading equilibrium pressure on the manometer.
8. Removing the bottle or can from the ICM-2000.
9. Determinate temperature and CO
1. Preparing the bottle or can.
Method:
1. Bring the bottle or can (according to the ASBC standard) to a temperature of 25.0 ± 0.2
°C (77.0 ± 0.4 °F) in a water bath. This is not strictly necessary but recommended so
that measurements can be reproduced better,
2. Remove any foil or label over the cap of the bottle.
2. Setting the ICM-2000 at the correct height.
Method:
1. Move the handle (pos. 32) back completely,
2. Loosen the knurled nut (pos. 16),
3. Place the bottle or can on the round platform (pos. 24),
4. Adjust the measuring head so that there is a space of 2 mm between the rubber on the
measuring head (pos. 23) and the bottle or can,
5. Fasten the knurled nut.
3. Shaking bottle or can to equilibrium.
Shake the bottle or can several times (about 3 times) before placing it in the ICM-2000. When
the bottle or can is held upside down, the headspace will move through the liquid, aiding in
measurement.
