Table 6.3 Setup example for various spotlights
The number of functions and function channels depends on the spots and their functions. The more devices with
various functions are to be used, the more function channels are required. Nevertheless, a separate channel must
not necessarily be created for each special function. In the example table shown here, different functions "hide"
behind Effect 1 and Effect 2. After all, 32 sliders (8 motorized faders on 4 levels) and 2 encoder wheels for
movement are available per spot. If you devise such a scheme and create a table, you can simply patch your spots
in the console and will always find the functions easily. Additionally, you can control identical functions of different
spots together. Since each channel has a defined function, it is recommended to label the channels accordingly.
6.5 Step 5: Copy Device Settings
All DMX values assigned to a spotlight can be conveniently copied to another fixture. Thus, you do not have to patch
spotlights identical in construction individually.
1
Patch a fixture as described before.
2
Keep the fixture's FIXTURE button pressed.
3
Then press a second FIXTURE button you would like to copy the values to. The display shortly indicates "COPY".
Shall four identical devices be controlled, configure only the first device and set it on button 1. Press
EXAMPLE
and hold this button and press the additional buttons 2, 3 and 4. The four devices are now set on the FIXTURE
buttons 1 to 4. You need now only enter the DMX address.
It is not possible to copy the devices via the switchable pages. This allows, for example, a device on
EXAMPLE
button 1 only to be copied onto location 2 to 9, but not onto 9 to 16 or 17 to 24.
