Alternate Extension Numbers (User Guide)

Alternate Extension Numbers
An alternate extension number is an alternate number for a subscriber with voice mail. When
an alternate extension number is dialed, it does not ring but directs the call automatically into
the mailbox. Therefore, an alternate extension number is often advertised as the subscriber's
fax number, but the mailbox owner might use this number for other purposes too.
When a subscriber wants to set up an alternate extension number, he must request the respec-
tive number from the Hicom CS system administrator. The Hicom CS system administrator con-
figures an available number into the Hicom CS (following the Hicom CS numbering plan), but
does not enable an extension. Then the subscriber can use this newly configured number as
his alternate extension number. The respective procedure is described in the HOP User Guide ,
Chapter 5, Section "Defining Alternate Extension Numbers".
