About this Book

Purpose
This guide supplements the Installation and System Administration Guides noted in
Section 1.4.6 on page 1-7. These guides do not discuss the new features of Hicom Office Pho-
neMail (HOP) and Hicom Office PhoneMail Entry (HOP E) Software Release 2.0. This book
discusses the new features.

Audience
This guide is designed for customer and service personnel who install, set up, and maintain
HOP and HOP E systems.

Prerequisite Knowledge
This guide is intended for customer and service personnel with a fundamental knowledge
about:
The Hicom communications server (CS) supporting the HOP or HOP E system.
Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT.
The Optiset E telephone used to set up the HOP or HOP E system.

Organization
This book is organized as follows:
Chapter 2, "Introduction to Software Release 2.0", discusses the new features in Software
Release 2.0, and upgrading a previous Software Release to Release 2.0.
Chapter 3, "Installing a New HOP E Board into an Existing Hicom CS", explains how to in-
stall a HOP E board into an existing Hicom CS.
Chapter 4, "Building the PC Interface for Your Office PhoneMail System", explains the per-
sonal computer (PC) interface to the Office PhoneMail system and the PC system admin-
istration menu.
Chapter 5, "Using the PC Interface", explains how to use the PC interface and the PC sys-
tem administration menu.
Chapter 6, "System Administrator Tasks for Remote Software Upgrading", explains how to
prepare your HOP system for a remote software upgrade and applies to HOP systems only.
Appendix A, "PC and Telephone System Administration Menu", compares the PC system
administration menu with the telephone system administration menu.
