Wipe the rollers using a moistened and firmly wrung- out
cloth while rotating the rollers.
The rollers are located at the positions indicated in the figure
below.

Remove the pickup roller, feed roller, retard roller, and
retard roller cover. (See p. 144)
IMPORTANT
Remove the pickup roller, feed roller, and retard roller before
wiping away the dirt. The pad is mounted to the retard roller
cover. Wipe away the dirt from the pad once the retard roller
cover has been removed from the scanner.

Wipe the rollers that you removed using a moistened and
firmly wrung-out cloth.

Wipe away the dirt from the pad mounted to the retard
roller cover while removed using a cloth that has been
dipped in water and thoroughly wrung.
