Moreover, an overheating protection pre-
vents the battery from overheating, where-
by the charging process is interrupted, if the
temperature of the battery is too high (e.g.
through unfavorable environmental condi-
tions).
After it is switched on, the vacuum pump
creates a vacuum in the tubing system and
secretion canister, which is used to aspirate
secretion (with a suitable sterile aspiration
set). The aspirate is directed away from the
patient and collected in the secretion canis-
ter. If the secretion canister is full, the aspi-
ration is stopped by means of a mechanical
overflow protection integrated into the lid
of the reusable secretion canister or a self-
sealing bacterial filter in the disposable liner
"OneWay".
The flow rate is adjusted by using the vacuum
regulator (additional air regulation) (fig. 1(E)).
The reusable secretion canister or the holder
for the external canister "Bag" is attached by
directly pushing it onto the guiding rails at the
housing of the aspiration device (figs. 11, 12).
The vacuum connection between the aspirati-
on device and the secretion canister is made
via the connecting tube (fig. 1(C)).
Charging or operation is carried out via the
supplied 12V power supply unit (fig. 1(H)).

2.3.1 Information on the double filter system
Health risks due to the handling of
infectious or pathogenic germs
Infectious and pathogenic germs in
the aspirate cause health risks.
• Never use the device without an
external bacterial filter. (exception:
ASSKEA disposable secretion canis-
ter system)
• Check that the bacterial filter is dry
and clean prior to every application to
ensure faultless function!(exception:
ASSKEA disposable secretion canis-
ter system)
The ASSKEA double filter system consists
of the external bacterial filter and the integra-
ted bacterial filter.
For the reusable secretion canister system, a
separate external hydrophobic (liquid-repel-
lent) bacterial filter is used. For the disposab-
le secretion canister system, an external self-
sealing bacterial filter is integrated into the
disposable liner 'OneWay'. The external bac-
terial filters (reusable as well as disposable
secretion canister system) and the integrated
bacterial filter form the ASSKEA double filter
system and in combination they are 99.999%
effective against bacteria and viruses.
The ASSKEA double filter system ef-
fectively protects against overflow and
contamination of the interior of the
device. It permits fast, simple and cost-
effective processing.
Service life and reuse
The external bacterial filter (for reusable sec-
retion canister system) is intended for single
use. For this reason, it must be replaced for
each new patient. When used exclusively for
one patient, replace the external bacterial fil-
ter every 2 weeks at the latest.
When replacing the external bacterial
filter, follow the supplied instruction
for use!
The integrated bacterial filter as well
as the external bacterial filter are not
suitable for reuse. To ensure consis-
tent performance, the integrated bac-
terial filter must be replaced by autho-
rized service staff, if it has come into
contact with the aspirate (blocked) or
during maintenance and repair.
