3.14 Conferencing
Conferencing is a useful feature whereby several users of the system can dial in a custom
configured conference room and talk to each other. Basically, instead of everyone meeting
physically in a common space reserved for conferences, everybody participates in a confer-
ence via their phone without leaving their workplace. That is a basic conference setup where
everyone can talk, and everyone can hear what the other party is saying.
So how does one enters the conference room and starts talking? Simply dial the conference
number just as you would dial the extension number, and that is it. Everybody on the system
can enter the conference and talk to everybody already present there.
The previous example is a basic and simplest form of conference. Ask your IT adminis-
N
trator to create a conference and pass the conference number to you and your colleagues
so you could use it.
Depending on your system's licensing and configuration, your administrator could
provide you with several conference rooms used for different purposes.
If needs be, your administrator can protect certain conferences with a PIN number so
they can be used only by people who have that PIN number.
3.14.1

Three-way conferencing

Although technically, this feature is not similar with the conference feature of the key systems
environment, functionally speaking it does the same thing, only on smaller scale.
Please observe the following scenario:
You are on a call and other party and you come to the conclusion that you need to
conference with one more person.
The solution for this is three-way conference.
You press the Conference button, after which you hear the dialtone.
You dial the extension or number of the third person needed in the conference.
Press the Send button/key or the green Dial button on the touchscreen (depends on the
phone model).
The system calls the third person, which if answers, founds themselves in the three-way
conference.
It is worth noticing that, wile you are dialing the number of the third person, the other
N
person on your call is listening to the Musin On Hold.
