Electrical faults at water-cooled motors

Note
When operating the machine with a converter, also refer to the operating instructions of the
frequency converter if electrical faults occur.
SIMOTICS M-1PH8 1PH818., 1PH822.
Operating Instructions 07/2016
↓ High temperature rise of individual winding sections
Possible causes of faults
Rotor (partially) demagnetized
Overload
Interruption of a phase in the
feeder cable
Interrupted phase in the feeder
cable after switching on
X
Winding short circuit or inter-
phase short circuit in stator wind‐
ing
Converter output voltage too
high, frequency too low
External fan is not running
Reduced air intake
Remedial measures
Contact the Service Center.
Reduce the load.
Check the frequency converters and feeder cables.
Check the frequency converters and feeder cables.
Determine the winding resistances and insulation resistan‐
ces. Contact the Service Center.
Check the settings at the frequency converter and perform
the automatic motor identification.
Check the external fan and its connections.
