In standard VRRP, the backup router takes over the role only when the router goes
down. In VRRP interface tracking, when the tracked interface goes down on the
VRRP master, the priority decrement value is subtracted from the router priority.
When the priority of the master router becomes lower than the priority of the
backup router, the backup router takes over the role.
When the tracked interface is up, the priority decrement value is added to the
current router priority. If the resulting priority is higher than the priority of the
backup router, the original VRRP master resumes control.
VRRP route tracking monitors the reachability of IP routes. The tracked route is
considered up if the routing table entry for that route exists and is accessible to
that route. When the tracked route is deleted from the routing table, the priority of
the VRRP router decreases by the priority decrement value. When a tracked route is
added to the routing table, the priority is incremented by the same value.

3.1.9.18.1. ECMP Hash Selection

Users can choose the load balancing/sharing algorithm used to select the final
ECMP route. Using the CLI, you can select a combination of various IP header fields,
including the internal IP header or external IP header of the tunneled packet. Both
IPv4 and IPv6 are supported. The field selector remains the same for all packet
types. Below is a list of available hash field selection algorithms. The list may vary
depending upon platform.
- Source IP address of the packet.
- Destination IP address of the packet.
- Source and destination IP address of the packet.
- Source IP address and source TCP/UDP port field associated with the packet.
- Destination IP address and destination TCP/UDP port field associated with the
packet.
- Source, destination IP address and source, destination TCP/UDP port field
associated with the packet.
For tunneled packets, the user should also choose whether to use internal IP
header or external IP header.
