Destination Unreachable message in preparation for a denial of service attack that
causes a large number of Destination Unreachable messages to be issued. This rate
limit is configurable and applies to the total number of sending messages on all
routing interfaces.

3.1.9.3.3. Redirects

When the interface that forwards the packet is the same interface it received, the
hardware will copy the data packet to the CPU. Then the forwarding path sends an
ICMP Redirect packet to the source to notify the appropriate route for that
destination.

3.1.9.4. IRDP (ICMP Router Discovery Protocol)

This product can be configured to send ICMP Router Discovery messages (RFC 1256).
When this function is enabled, the router periodically sends router advertisement
messages and returns responses to the router solicitation messages. The host that
received this router advertisements uses the router as the default gateway.

3.1.9.5. IPv6 Compare with IPv4

Network behavior of IPv4 and IPv6 has many similarities. Even in IPv6, the address
still has a network prefix part (network part) and a device interface specific part
(host part). Although the length of the network part is still variable, it is standard
for most users to use a 64-bit network prefix length.
The remaining 64 bits are the interface specific part, which is called an Interface ID
in IPv6. Depending on the underlying link addressing, the Interface ID can be
calculated automatically from the link (MAC address etc). The automatically
calculated Interface ID is a format called EUI-64, in which the value of ff:fe is
inserted in the middle of the interface MAC address.
IPv6 packets on the network are completely different from conventional IPv4
packets and are encapsulated with different ether types (86DD instead of 0800
used in IPv4).
Unlike IPv4, IPv6 has no broadcast, and there are two types, unicast and multicast.
A unicast address enables one-to-one communication between two hosts, and a
multicast address enables one-to-many communication. Multicast addresses are
used only as destinations. The unicast address has the highest octet 00 to fe, and
the multicast address has ff in the most significant octet.
