Temperature
Temperature variation influences the FCS by changing the permeability of the PTFE membrane and the
Nernstian response of the sensor. Combined these changes account for a change of 4% / C°. The change
follows the temperature, as the temperature increases the output of the sensor increases, as the
temperature drops the output drops. The FCA‐22 automatically compensates for the changes. The
temperature sensor is located in the pH sensor and it has a response time of several minutes. Rapid
changes of temperature will introduce an error until the sensor has equilibrated to the new
temperature. Calibration should be done close to the process temperature for the highest accuracy. See
fig. 2.3.
