Painting Roof Tiles in three coats

23. The Roof can be painted a single color or, for a more
dramatic effect, can have the grooves a contrasting color.
The first coat will train you in sponge painting. Apply the
tile color with a piece of small-celled sponge (a small celled
sponge looks like foam rubber - our local dollar store sells
small-celled sponges with a scrubby-back.. one of them cut
into thirds is just right). Put a little paint on the sponge with a
foam brush.
Dab paint onto the Tile surface with quick fingertip whisks.
Develop your technique! Any place where you flood the
groove is too much paint or too aggressive application. By the
time you're done with the Roofs, you must be able to have
no paint going into the grooves. Clean drips out of the
C
grooves; let the paint dry. Sand and clean up the panels sand-
ing between the tiles with a folded piece of sandpaper.
The second coat is the groove color. Put on the paint quickly
and thoroughly, painting to the bottom of the grooves, then
wiping the paint off. Get any excess paint out of the grooves
and as much of the groove color off the surface of the tiles as
possible. Make sure the grooves don't have fuzz or chunks
that will be touched by the sponge when you do the 3rd coat.
The third coat is the tile color again, and will use all of the
skill you developed on the first coat to keep paint out of the
grooves. Keep the paint skimpy and the strokes dainty. A
light, transparent coat gives the best product.

El Techo se puede pintar en un solo color, o para un efecto más dramático,
puede tener un color que contraste en las ranuras.
La primera capa le adiestrará en pintar con esponja. Aplique el color de
la teja con un pedazo de esponja de célula pequeña (una esponja de célula
pequeña parece como goma de esponja – nuestra tienda de dólar local
vende esponjas de célula pequeña con revés de restregar...una de ellas
cortada en tercios es perfecto). Coloque un poco de pintura en la esponja
con una brocha de esponja.
Aplique pintura a la superficie de la Teja con rápidos movimientos de
la punta de sus dedos. ¡Desarrolle su técnica! Cualquier lugar donde se
desborde la ranura se debe a que tiene demasiado pintura o la aplicación
es demasiado agresiva. Para el tiempo que haya terminado con los Techos,
debe ser capaz de no tener pintura desplazándose en las ranuras. Limpie el
chorreo de pintura de las ranuras; deje que la pintura seque. Lije y limpie
los paneles lijando entre las tejas con un pedazo de lija doblado.
La segunda capa es el color de la ranura. Aplique la pintura rápida
y minuciosamente, pintando hasta el fondo de las ranuras. Remueva
cualquier exceso de pintura que se encuentre en las ranuras y quite lo más
que se pueda del color de pintura de la ranura en la superficie.
La tercera capa es el color de la teja nuevamente, y necesitará de toda la
destreza que usted desarrolló en la primera capa para mantener la pintura
fuera de las ranuras. Mantenga escasa pintura y los golpecitos delicados.
Una capa liviana y transparente proporciona el mejor terminado.
