8. Remove the rear wheel sprocket and
drive chain.
9. Replace the oil seals and bearings with
new ones.
NOTE: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Before instamng the bearing(s) or oil seal(s),
apply grease to them.
Recommended grease:
Medium weight wheel bearing grease
Checking the rear axle
1. As shown below, support the rear axle
by placing V-blocks under the bearing
mounting positions and check for the
rear axle at both ends.
1. Rearaxle
DIAL GAUGE
Rear axle runout limit:
1.5 mm
(0.06
in)
2. If the runout exceeds 1.5mm
(0.06
in),
replace the rear axle with a new one.
Installing the rear axle
(Positioning the rear axle)
1. Drive the rear axle into the rear hub.
NOTE: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
The rear shaft is shaped symmetrical so that it
can be inserted from either end.
2. Install the drive chain.
Tightening torque:
Drive sprocket:
55 Nm (5.5 m ·kg, 40 ft ·Ib)
Wheel sprocket:
45 Nm (4.5m ·kg, 32.5ft·lb)
3. Install the disk plate boss and grease the
splines.
