Steps for Basic Equipment Setup

See Figure 8-2 for the diagram of this basic equipment setup.
1.
Connect CDM-IP 1 and CDD-564A/L Demod to PC 1 via the 10/100 BaseT Ethernet Hub 1.
2.
Connect CDM-IP 2 to PC 2 via the 10/100 BaseT Ethernet Hub 2.
3.
Connect the Tx IF on CDM-IP 1 to RX IF of CDM-IP 2.
4.
Connect the Tx IF on CDM-IP 2 to the RX1 IF of CDD-564A/L Demod (RX-1 First Demodulator).
5.
Connect the Console cable:
a.
Connect the DB-9 end to the COM1 or COM2 port of the PC.
b.
Connect the RJ-11 end to the Console port on the CDM-IP 1 rear panel.
6.
Connect CDM-IP 1, CDM-IP 2, and CDD-564A/L Demod to the correct power supply.
7.
Set power to ON for all units.

Steps for Transmit and Receive IF Configuration

Comtech recommends that you use the front panel to set the IF parameters. Command Line Interface
(CLI), Telnet, Web interface or SNMP interfaces are not recommended for the quick start configuration.
1.
Use the front panel to set all transmit and receive IF parameters for CDM-IP 1, CDM-IP 2 and the CDD-564A/L
Demod.
2.
Set TxPower to the minimum level.
3.
Make sure that CDM-IP 1 is carrier-locked to CDM-IP 2 correctly.
4.
Make sure that CDM-IP 2 is carrier-locked to CDD-564A/L Demod correctly.

Steps for Serial Console Port Command Line Interface Configuration

1.
Start the terminal emulation program via Microsoft Windows. (Examples: PuTTY, Tera Term, etc.)
2.
Select the correct COM port for the terminal emulation program. This is the port to which the DB-9 end of the
console cable is connected.
3.
Configure the COM port for:
38,400 bps
8 data bits
No parity
1 stop bit
No hardware flow control
4.
Press Enter to log on and see the CLI Main Menu. See Figure 8-1.
5.
Go to the applicable submenu or run a command:
a.
Type the character shown at the right of the menu item.
6.
To save any configuration changes,
a.
Type S for Save Parameters to permanent storage.
