SNMP Interface

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an Internet-standard protocol for managing
devices on IP networks. An SNMP-managed network consists of three key components:

Managed device

SNMP agent

Network Management System (NMS)
7.3.1
Managed device
This includes the CDD-56xA/L Multi-Channel Demodulator.
7.3.2
SNMP Agent
This is the software that runs on the CDD-56xA/L. The CDD-56xA/L SNMP Agent supports both
SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c.
7.3.3

User-supplied Network Management System (NMS)

This is the software that runs on the manager.
7.3.4

Management Information Base (MIB) Files

MIB files are used for SNMP remote management of a unique device. These MIB files must be compiled
in a user-supplied MIB Browser, or compiled on an SNMP Network Monitoring System server.
A MIB file consists of a tree of nodes called Object Identifiers (OIDs). Each OID provides remote
management of a particular function.
7.3.4.1
FW-0020899*.mib, MIB file
CDD-564A MIB file consists of all of the OIDs for management of the demodulators functions.
7.3.4.2
