ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING
When the carburetor setting is not correct for the engine, various irregularities are noticed. These
can be traced to two causes as a whole:
When the air/ fuel mixture is too rich :
The engine noise is full and intermittent. ("four stroking")
(a)
The condition grows worse when the enrichener is opened.
(b)
The condition grows worse when the engine gets hot.
Removal of the air cleaner will somewhat improve the condition.
(d)
Exhaust gases are heavy.
(e)
Spark plug is fouled.
(f)
When the air/fuel mixture is too lean :
The engine overheats.
(a)
The condition improves when the enrichener is opened.
Acceleration is poor.
Spark plug electrodes are melted.
The revolution of the engine fluctuates and a lack of power is noticed.

Piston siezure or scuffing occurs.
