conditions.
1 Install the heatsink.
2 If you are permanentlyremoving the processor and the heat sink, ensure that you install a processor/DIMM blank.

Installing a heatsink

Prerequisites
CAUTION:Manyrepairsmayonlybedonebyacertifiedservicetechnician.Youshouldonlyperformtroubleshootingandsimple
repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team.

thatareshippedwithyourproduct.
NOTE: This is a Field Replaceable Unit (FRU). Removal and installation procedures should beperformed only by Dell certified
service technicians.
1 Followthesafetyguidelineslistedinthe Safetyinstructions section.
2 FollowtheprocedurelistedintheBefore workinginside yoursystemsection.
3 Keep the Phillips #2 screwdriverready.
4 Install the processor.
Steps
1 If you are using an existing heat sink, remove the thermal grease from the heat sink byusing aclean lint-free cloth.
2 Use the thermal grease syringe included with your processor kit to apply the grease ina thin spiral on the top of the processor.
CAUTION: Applyingtoo muchthermalgreasecanresultinexcess greasecomingincontactwithandcontaminatingthe
processor socket.
NOTE: The thermal grease syringe is intended for one-time use only. Dispose of the syringe after you use it.
