Throttle Control

Warning
Always be alert for changes in the 'feel'
of the throttle control and have the
throttle system checked by an author-
ised Triumph dealer if any changes are
detected. Changes can be due to wear
in the mechanism, which could lead to
a sticking throttle control.
A sticking or stuck throttle control will
lead to loss of motorcycle control and
an accident.

The motorcycle has an electronic throt-
tle twist grip to open and close the
throttles. There are no direct-acting ca-
bles in the system and no adjustments
can be made.
Check that the throttle opens smoothly,
without undue force and that it closes
without sticking.
Check that there is 1 - 2 mm of throttle
grip free play when lightly turning the
throttle grip back and forth.
If there are any changes or an incorrect
amount of free play, then have your au-
thorised Triumph dealer check the
throttle system.
If there is a malfunction with the throt-
tle control the Malfunction Indicator
Light (MIL) becomes illuminated and one
of the following engine conditions may
occur:
• MIL illuminated, restricted engine
RPM and throttle movement
• MIL illuminated, limp-home mode
with the engine at a fast idle condi-
tion only
• MIL illuminated, engine will not
start.
For all of the conditions mentioned con-
tact an authorised Triumph dealer as
soon as possible to have the fault
checked and rectified.
