Problem
Device will not
activate.

Possible Cause
Batteries inserted wrong.
Batteries are depleted.
Sensor is disconnected.
Device is in Sensor Activation
mode and has timed out.
Device is in Programmed
mode.
Device set in Partial Display
mode.
Excessive patient motion.
Inadequate pulse signal.
Hands are cold.
Sensor applied incorrectly.
Device needs repair.
Possible interference from
blood flow restrictors (arterial
catheters, blood pressure
cuffs, infusion lines, etc.).
Reduced circulation due to
excess pressure from sensor.
Excessive ambient light.
Sensor applied to polished or
artificial nail.
Sensor Light-Emitting Diode
(LED) is not lit.
Possible Solution
Check batteries.
Replace batteries.
Reconnect sensor.
Press the activation switch.
Disconnect and then reconnect the
sensor.
Use nVISION software to select
Spot Check or Sensor Activation
mode.
Use nVISION software to select Full
Display mode. Reconnect sensor.
Reduce patient motion.
Reposition or replace sensor, or
place sensor on a different finger.
Remove and reconnect sensor.
Warm sensor application site.
Refer to sensor Instructions for Use
for proper sensor application.
Contact Nonin Technical Service.
Reduce or eliminate restriction.
Check sensor alignment, reposition
sensor, verify correct sensor size.
Shield sensor from light source.
Check sensor alignment.
Remove fingernail polish or an
artificial nail.
