Hot-plug Components

performance.
I
Upgrades or replacements of permanently installed components are
described in the Options Guide and/or in the Service Supplement and
may only be performed by Service staff.
V
CAUTION!
Please observe the safety information in
on page

8.1

Hot-plug Power Supply Units

I
A redundant power supply can be created by installing a second hot-plug
power supply unit (optional). If one power supply unit fails, the other unit
ensures operation can continue. The defective power supply unit can be
replaced online (hot-swap).
8.1.1

Removing the Dummy Module

The slot for the second power supply unit is provided with a dummy module that
must be removed before installing a second power supply unit.
Ê Release the fastening screw and remove the dummy module from the slot.
V
CAUTION!
Keep the dummy module for future use. If the power supply unit is
removed again and not replaced with a new unit, the dummy module
must be reinstalled due to cooling, to comply with applicable EMC
regulations (regulations on electromagnetic compatibility) and to protect
against fire.
