Speed encoder
Description
For setting the number of speed encoder pulses per distance unit (metres
or feet) when a speed encoder is used.
The encoder factor setting can be calculated as follows:
Where: C = circumference of wheel (meters or feet), ppr = pulses per
revolution of the encoder, E = encoder factor setting (pulses/m
or pulses/foot).
The encoder factor setting must be between 250-50 000 pulses/m
(77-15 240 pulses/foot).
The control unit is set to use both channels A+B of an encoder. Thus, if
an encoder has 10 000 ppr and both channels A+B are connected to the
control unit, the total ppr would be 20 000. If both channels of the
encoder are connected to the control unit, then this value must be used in
the formula stated above.
