Automatic& manual transmission
The engine can be started only when
the shift lever is at parking gear (P) or
neutral gear (N).
When the shift lever is at other gears,
the internal safety locking mechanism
will cut off the ignition circuit; therefore,
the engine cannot be started.
After the engine is started, depress the
brake pedal and shift to the automatic
direct gear (D) or reverse gear (R)
according to the actual requirements.
Then, the vehicle can be started for
driving after the brake pedal is released.
When the vehicle is travelling at D
gear, the M gear can be switched to at
any time, and the transmission can be
switched to manual mode. According
to the road condition, push the shift
lever in direction of "+" for upshift and
in direction of "-" for downshift. The gear
is indicated on the combination display
(see Page 66).
After upshift or downshift, the shift lever
will return to the M gear automatically
and can be switched between M gear
and D gear freely.
