Power On And Power Off Problems - Lenovo ThinkSystem SR860 Maintenance Manual

A Lenovo optional device that was just installed does not work.
1. Make sure that:
• The device is supported for the server (see
• You followed the installation instructions that came with the device and the device is installed
correctly.
• You have not loosened any other installed devices or cables.
• You updated the configuration information in system setup. When you start a server and press F1 to
display the system setup interface. Whenever memory or any other device is changed, you must
update the configuration.
2. Reseat the device that you just installed.
3. Replace the device that you just installed.
GPU does not work.
1. Make sure that:
• The GPU is supported for the server (see
• You followed the installation instructions and the GPU is installed correctly.
• Some types of GPU require the total installed memory to be less than 1 TB. For specific types of
GPU, see: https://support.lenovo.com/en/solutions/ht114952
• Check again that GPU power cable is connected to the 4U PCIe riser card.
• You updated the configuration information in system setup. When you start a server and press F1 to
display the system setup interface. Whenever memory or any other device is changed, you must
update the configuration.
2. Reseat the GPU that you just installed.
A Lenovo optional device that worked previously does not work now.
1. Make sure that all of the cable connections for the device are secure.
2. If the device comes with test instructions, use those instructions to test the device.
3. Reseat the failing device.
4. Replace the failing device.

Power on and power off problems

Use this information to resolve issues when powering on or powering off the server.

Embedded hypervisor is not in the boot list
Complete the following steps until the problem is resolved:
1. Make sure that the optional embedded hypervisor flash device is selected on the boot manager <F12>
Select Boot Device at startup.
2. Make sure that the embedded hypervisor flash device is seated in the connector correctly.
3. See the documentation that comes with the optional embedded hypervisor flash device to validate that
the device is configured correctly.
4. Make sure that other software works on the server.
