2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see
"Power off the server" on page 10).
3. If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.
4. Remove the top cover (see "Remove the top cover" on page 146).
To remove a 4U PCIe riser card, complete the following steps:

Step 1.
Remove the 4U PCIe riser assembly (see "Remove a 4U PCIe riser assembly" on page 152).
Step 2.
Disconnect the power cable connected from the fan, and remove the screws.

Step 3.
Slightly slide the 4U PCIe riser card toward the fan; then, detach it from the 4U PCIe riser cage.
