Step 2.
Slide the system board toward the rear of the server to secure it in place. To ensure that the system
board is properly installed, gently tug handle of system board forward, a properly installed system
board will not release and slide forward.
Step 3.
Reinstall the TCM/TPM to the system board (see "Install the TCM/TPM adapter (for China only)" on
page 144).
Step 4.
Reinstall the DIMMs to the system board (see "Install a memory module" on page 90).
Step 5.
Install the PHMs (see "Install a processor and heat sink" on page 116).
Step 6.
Reinstall PCIe riser card assembly if necessary (see "Install the PCIe riser card assembly" on page
99).
Step 7.
Reinstall adapters removed earlier (see "Install an adapter" on page 104).
Step 8.
Reinstall the LOM adapter if necessary (see "Install the LOM adapter" on page 81).
Step 9.
Reinstall the system board air baffle (see "Install the system board air baffle and the power
interposer" on page 130) or the processor and memory expansion tray (see "Install the processor
and memory expansion tray " on page 123).
Step 10. Reconnect the cables disconnected earlier.
Step 11. Reinstall the power supplies (see "Install a hot-swap power supply unit" on page 108).
Step 12. Reinstall the drive backplanes (see "Install a drive backplane" on page 62).
Step 13. Reinstall the chassis air baffle (see "Install the chassis air baffle" on page 66).
Step 14. Reinstall the PCIe expansion tray (see "Install the PCIe expansion tray" on page 151).
After installing the system board, complete the following steps:
1. Push the power supplies into the bays until they click into place.
2. Install any components that you removed from the failing system board. See the related topics in
"Hardware replacement procedures."
3. Update the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID). See "Update the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID)" on
page 136.
4. Update the SMBIOS/DMI information. See "Update the DMI/SMBIOS data" on page 138.
5. Enable TPM/TCM. See "Enable TPM/TCM" on page 140
6. Optionally, enable Secure Boot.
Update the Universal Unique Identifier (UUID)
The Universal Unique Identifier (UUID) must be updated when the system board is replaced. Use the Lenovo
XClarity Essentials OneCLI to update the UUID in the UEFI-based solution. Lenovo XClarity Essentials
OneCLI is an online tool that supports several operating systems; make sure that you download the version
for your operating system.
Notes: You can use Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager to update the UUID for the solution:
1. Start the solution and press F1 to display the Lenovo XClarity Provisioning Manager system setup
interface.
2. From the System Summary page, click Update VPD.
3. Update the UUID.
