5.4.1. O
VERVIEW
A VPN (Virtual Private Network), as a virtual private network, is a secure local area network based on the Internet. At present,
R800 LTE Router supports a single use of multiple VPN protocols (including L2TP/PPTP/N2N/OPENVPN) as well as VPN services built
over an existing VPN, namely VPN over VPN. Multi-layer VPN can better ensure the security of the user's communication data.
5.4.2. VPDN C
ONFIGURATION
A VPDN (Virtual Private Dial-up Networks), also known as a virtual private dial-up network and one of the VPN services,
provides the dial-up based Virtual Private Dial Network services. With dial-up to enable Internet access, as a technology rapidly
developed with the development of Internet, it is a secure virtual private network created by applying the bearing function of the IP
network in combination with the applicable authentication and authorization mechanisms.
The VPDN supports two protocols, L2TP and PPTP.
The PPTP (Point to Point Tunneling Protocol), as the second layer protocol, is a network technology that supports
multi-protocol virtual private networks whereby the remote user can have secure access to the corporate network, connection to
the local ISP through dial-up and secure link to the corporate network on the Internet in Windows and other operating systems with
the built-in point-to-point protocol.
The L2TP (Layer Two Tunneling Protocol), as one of the VPDN (Virtual Private Dial-up Networks) technologies, is specially used
for the tunnel transmission of the second layer data. It provides a means for remote access control. A typical application scenario is
like this: the employee of a company links the company's internal network, obtains an IP address and accesses the network resources
of certain permissions by dialing into the company's local network access server (NAS) based on the PPP. The employee dials into the
company network as securely and conveniently as in the company's local area network.
Log onto the WEB configuration interface of R800 LTE Router as provided in "5.2.1 Log onto the WEB Configuration Interface" .
Step 1: Click "VPN Settings > VPDN Configuration".
Step 2: Open the "VPDN Configuration" tab, as shown in Figure 5-4-1.
Step 3: Select "Edit" or directly "Create" to input the VPDN configuration tab, as shown in Figure 5-4-2.
