  • Page 13: Surveyor99 Components

Surveyor99 Components All Surveyor99 versions are comprised of an Enclosure, a removable Camera Drive, a Shroud and a Lower Dome as shown in Figure 1. This assembly is the heart of every prepackaged Surveyor99 unit. With the addition of a Housing and Sunshield, Surveyor99 can be equipped for in-ceiling, indoor or outdoor pendant mounting.

  • Page 23: Detailed Installation

Detailed Installation For novice or first-time installers, these steps provide the most thorough and accurate instructions. IN-CEILING MOUNT MODEL This version of Surveyor99 mounts in the ceiling. The Surveyor99 rests on the ceiling material and occupies the space between the lower ceiling and upper building frame. This section details 2 methods of installation. The first method can be used for ceilings with no access to the space above, as in a typical hard material ceiling.
  • Page 24 The ceiling material must provide a surface of suitable strength for the Surveyor99 weight of 4.5 lb (2.0 kg) on the area of the two Ceiling Clips. Refer to the Optional Independent Support sub-section installations requiring additional support. 1. Cut a 7-3/8-inch (187 mm ) diameter hole in ceiling at the desired location.
  • Page 25 b) Strip approximately 1 inch (25 mm) of insulation off all wires to be terminated in Terminal Blocks. Then strip approximately 0.25 inches (6 mm) of insulation off of each individual wire. c) Make all connections to Terminal Blocks TB1 and TB3 with reference to Table 1. On TB3, the COMMAND IN + (CI+) and COMMAND IN - (CI-) connections must be used for Simplex operation.
  • Page 26 2. Set switch 2 on DIP Switch 2 (S2) to the ON position (Vicoax mode). 3. Set switch 3 on DIP Switch 2 (S2) to either position as it does not affect Vicoax protocol operation. 4. Set switch 4 on DIP Switch 2 (S2) to either position as it does not affect Vicoax protocol operation. NOTE: DIP Switches labeled ON or CLOSED and OFF or OPEN have the same meaning.
  • Page 27 From Above the Ceiling (access to the space above) The ceiling hole is cut and the Surveyor99 is snapped into the hole and screwed up tight to the surface. The Enclosure’s Top Cover is removed and the Surveyor99 is wired and configured from above the ceiling.
  • Page 28 NOTE: Connectors that do not fit through the Strain Relief Fitting must be cut off and re-terminated after passing the cable through. It is recommended to pass any RJ-45 Connectors through the fitting first. BNC type connectors do not fit through the fitting and must be terminated later. 4.
  • Page 29 NOTE: Failure to loop the cables can prevent later removal of the Camera Drive from the Enclosure. Figure 17 Close-Up View - In-Ceiling Configuration with Cables 9. Configure the Surveyor99 communication and address DIP Switches as follows: a) If RS-422 Mode will be used: 1.

OUTDOOR PENDANT MODEL The Outdoor Pendant Model mounts on a Vicon Mount or a 1.0-inch vertical Pipe in the same manner as the Indoor version. The Outdoor version includes a Sunshield, Heater and weather protection. The Mount is installed with all the cables run through it and the 1.0-inch NPT Pipe is prepared with Teflon Tape for the Housing and the Surveyor99 installation.

Wiring Wiring is done with runs of cable for power, video and control. Optional wiring can be installed for the Relay Output and 4 Alarm Inputs. All cables enter the Enclosure from the top on all pendant installations and through the Conduit Fitting on all In-Ceiling installations.
  • Page 40: Typical Relay And Alarm Connections

Typical Relay and Alarm Connections Alarm Input and Relay Output type signals are also carried on individually-shielded twisted-pair cable sets. The signals are defined in the following descriptions. Alarms 1-4 are electronic TTL (transistor-transistor logic) type inputs that are driven by a dry contact type switch.
  • Page 41: Installing The Cables

Installing the Cables WARNING: Disable the AC power to prevent installer injury and damage to the unit. Cables are installed using 2 different methods, depending on the installation type. For the In-Ceiling installation, cables are routed from above the ceiling through a Conduit Fitting on the Enclosure to the board. For the Pendant installation, cables are routed from the inside of the Housing through a Cable Clamp to the Communication Power Supply Board.

    8. Make all connections to Terminal Blocks TB1 and TB3 with reference to Table 1. On TB3, the COMMAND IN + (CI+) and COMMAND IN - (CI-) connections must be used for Simplex operation. For Half Duplex operation, the additional signals RESPONSE OUT + (RO+) and RESPONSE OUT - (RO-) must also be used.
