Self Test and Supervision

Self Test comprises an initial boot test performed during the start-up of
an RU in order to test the functionality of the hardware required for
execution of the application software.
Supervision is a subsequent activity which continuously monitors the
correct function of all supervised entities within the RBS.
Faults detected by the supervision function are passed to the
"Diagnostic and Fault Handling" function for further processing.

26.2.1 Boot Test
The Boot test is performed on each processor before any normal
application processes have started.
The Boot test is restricted to the hardware related to the processor
performing the test.

26.3 Supervision
26.3.1 Memory
If the contents of the memory are incorrect, this is detected. Read only
memory and non-volatile memory (FLASH, EEPROM) are supervised
using checksums. Read/write memory is supervised by non-destructive
test of all possible information states. Memory is supervised as a
background activity.
26.3.2 Buses
If the data fed to the bus drive function or the data received is incorrect,
this is detected. All buses between RUs or major function blocks are
covered.

If a cable is removed, this is detected.

about the RU can be retrieved via OMT or
BSC.
