330 MAINTAINING YOUR VEHICLE
dipstick cap is pr operly r eseated. It is normal for the
dipstick cap to spring back slightly fr om its fully seated
position, as long as its seal r emains engaged in the
dipstick tube.
Automatic Transmission Fluid And Filter Change
To obtain best performance and long life for automatic
transmissions,the manufactur er r ecommends that they
be given r egular maintenance service by an Authorized
Dodge Dealer or Service Center .Itis importantthatthe
transmission fluid be maintained atthe corr ectleveland
thatitbe drained and r efilled as specified.
Follow the pr operMaintenance Schedule foryourtype of
driving.
It is important that pr oper lubricant is used in the
transmission. Refer to Fluids, Lubricants and Genuine
Parts for corr ect fluid type. It is important that the
transmission fluid be maintained atthe pr escribed level
using the r ecommended fluid.
CAUTION!
Using a transmission fluid other than the manufac-
turers recommended fluid may cause deterioration
in transmission shiftquality and/ortorque converter
shudder .Using a transmission fluid other than the
manufacturers recommended fluid will result in
more frequent fluid and filter changes. Refer to
Fluids, Lubricants and Genuine Parts for correct
fluid type.
SpecialAdditives
The manufactur er str ongly r ecommends againstthe ad-
dition ofany additives to the transmission.Exception
this policy is the use ofspecialdyes to aid in detecti
fluid leaks. The use of transmission sealers should b
avoided,since they may adversely af fectseals.
