Preparations
Park the vehicle on a firm levelsurface,avoiding ice or
slippery ar eas.Setthe parking brake and place the gear
selector in PARK (automatic transmission). On Four
WheelDrive vehicles,shiftthe transfer case to the "4L"
position.
W ARNING!
Do not attempt to change a tire on the side of the
vehicle close to moving traf fic.Pull far enough of f
the road to avoid the danger of being hit when
operating the jack or changing the wheel.
• Turn on the Hazar d W arning Flasher .
WHAT TO DO IN EMERGENCIES
• Block both the fr ontand r ear
ofthe wheeldiagonally oppo-
site the jacking position. For
example, if the right fr ont
wheelisbeing changed,block
the leftr ear wheel.
• Passengers should notr emain in the vehicle when the
vehicle is being jacked.
Instructions
1. Lower and r emove the spar e wheel,jack,and tools
fr om stowage.
2. Using the wheelwr ench,loosen,butdo notr emove,
the wheel nuts by turning them counter clockwise one
turn while the wheelis stillon the gr ound.
3. When changing a fr ontwheel,place the jack underthe
frame rail behind the wheel. Locate the jack as far
forwar d aspossible on the straightpartofthe frame prior
