Ifusing a manualtransmission vehicle fortrailertowing,
allstarts mustbe in FIRST gearto avoid excessive clutch
slippage.
Towing Tips — Automatic Transmission
The "D" range can be selected when towing.However ,if
fr equent shifting occurs while in this range,the "TOW
HAUL" or "OD/OFF" range should be selected.
NOTE: Using the "TOW HAUL" or "OD/OFF" range
while operating the vehicle under heavy operating con-
ditions willimpr ove performance and extend transmis-
sion life by r educing excessive shifting and heatbuild up.
This action willalso pr ovide better engine braking.
The automatic transmission fluid and filter should be
changed ifyou REGULARLY tow a trailerformor e than
45 minutes ofcontinuous operation.See Schedule "B" in
section 8 of this manual for transmission fluid change
intervals.

NOTE:
Check the automatic transmission fluid level
befor e towing.

ing,turn the "TOW HAUL OD/OFF" featur e ON when
driving in hilly ar eas or shift the transmission to Dri
position 2 on mor e sever e grades.

Equipped)
− Don'tuse in hilly terrain or with heavy loads.
− When using the speed contr ol,ifyou experience speed
dr ops gr eaterthan 10 mph (16 km/h),disengage until
you can getback to cr uising speed.
− Use speed contr olin flatterrain and with lightloadst
maximize fuelef ficiency.
